The Stromer Story

Stromer is a true homegrown success story with a grassroots history. According to local Bern legend, the Stromer founder Thomas “Thömu” Binggeli sold his parents’ farming livestock while they were away on a vacation. With this capital, Thömu founded his own brand “Thömus”, together with a bike shop. The business was so successful, that he won the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Switzerland in 2006. Soon after, inspired by new technology and great brands like Tesla, Apple and Google, the visionary developed a highly innovative e -bike, the Stromer. By 2009 Thömu had founded the Stromer brand and introduced the first Stromer e-bike to the market. Two years later, in 2011, the second model of Stromer, the ST1, came on the market and Stromer was acquired by the premium Swiss bike brand, BMC. An extremely powerful e-bike that reaches rider-assisted speeds of up to 45 km/h, the ST1 has produced pan-European sales, a huge following in Switzerland, and introduction of the brand in the USA.

Fast forward to March 2014, and the next innovation from the Stromer brand - the ST2. The S-Pedelec (up to 45km/h) is the world’s first digitally connected e-bike. Equipped with the latest digital technology, the ST2 not only communicates with its owner’s smartphone through the Stromer App, but can likewise receive commands.
